On April 19 in Uhuru Na Umoja, Shabazz wrote this: Klux Klan (YAF @ CSUF) can yell 'nigger nigger nigger' all they want.... " This is obviously an at¬ tempt to say that this is a direct quote of something that YAF has said. My response is in two parts. First Mr. Shabazz is a liar. YAF has never said those words in public or private nor is any member of YAF a believer or member of KKK. We repu¬ diate and denounce all hate groups. Second, we are tired of being lied about by the radical left on this campus. All of the opinions expressed by these people are nothing more than just that — opinion. We welcome anyone to prove fac¬ tually the lies being told about us. Since these are evidently ties ,1 red justified in MRn Mr. Shabazz, who is the real bigot here? Mario Xavier Bai/a 'Selfish indulgence' Anthonette, this is in re¬ sponse to the letter you wrote to The Collegian on May 1 u rging people tocall you names and get excited about the graduation ceremony. You' re getting exci ted abou t the wrong things. It seems as though you like hearing your name. If you had a life you wouldn'tneed to trouble your¬ self with these trivialities. No one, with the exception of you and a few other masochists, wants to sit through a three- hour ceremony, getting butt warts so their namecan be read. I'd rather start urinating stand¬ ing up than have my name called at graduation and J" have worked |U8t as hard as you have. Your fifteen second prome- nadeacross the stage willsurely be a sight to see (for vour par¬ ents). Mavbe vou could waltz across the stage a few times after the ceremonv is over in front of people WHO CARE. It isa selfish indulgence you are asking lhe rest of us to persevere. If you attacked vour school work wi th as much vigor you would leel important and lose your need for attention. The future of America looks bleak because it is filled with piddling people like vou who wouldn't know a cause to get excited about if vou urinated on it. Listen Annie, I'm tired Ol listening to you whine. The ceremony isn't (at least 1 hope it isn't) the reason you came to college. Obviously, you haven'i learned all that much here or you would know that already Just to make you feel better we'll all call out your precious name as wc are reading The Collegian. Everyone now, on three — one, two, three "ANTHON¬ ETTE 'SNOT NOSE' KOSMAS!" Unless you want to be a martyr for your cause that should make you feel sig¬ nificant. Cathy Glenn Drawing 'ad'tention to 'insensitive' ASI Now we've seen it all. As if post-election brawls weren't enough, the AS! has proven itself once again igno¬ rant of thc real issues. Where is the socially conscious, left-lean¬ ing, feminist student govern¬ ment? Let's face it. All of you are wonderfully well-fed, well- clothed, and well-versed in public bullshit. But as student politicians you're seriously lacking in knowledge of true issues. And of what issuedol speak? The ad in Wednesday's Colle¬ gian that advertised whistles and phonedecals. This was one of the most sexist, misogynishc things I've seen in years. This ad reinforces every stereotype society has perpetuated about women's safety. The ad de¬ picted three old women with stockings down to their ankles who are seemingly afraid for their safety. Let's face the real issues. Women and men are at risk for campus crime. Al¬ though women are at greater risk, the reality is that we all fear for our safety once in a while. But aside from that, the ad will successfully intimidate women enough to avoid pick¬ ing up your otherwise useful whistles and phone decals Who wants to look like an old hag preening at thealter of fear and doom? I am personally insulted and offendedby the ad. It reinforces the general thesis on campus that the ASI is perpetually assinine in nature and is com¬ pletely ignorant to the issues, that the ASI has no concept of true social consciousness, and that we must be to blame for this atrocity. Next the ASI will be telling us to make sure westav "smell¬ ing fresh" with Masengil or Summer's Eve douches. Patty Crouch
