After having captured the school's first ever Big West Con¬ ference championship Sunday in Ojai, the Bulldogs just want thc answer to this Shakespearean question: To be in the NCAA Championships? Or not to be in theNCAAs? "We just want to know if we're going to the NCAAs so we can either practice hard or take a vaca¬ tion," said junior Greg Andersen. 'I'd rather not play the Washing¬ ton match. I've talked to every¬ body on the team and thafs how everyone is feeling." With the conference crown, Fresno State (12-10 overall) im¬ proved its shot at a berth to the NCAAs, scheduled May 17-27 at Athens, G A. However, the "Dogs, rated No. 24 nationally in the Volvo Tennis Collegiate Rankings, will have to wait until May 10th to find out whether they will make the tour¬ nament If so, it will be FSU's first NCAA team ticket ever. First though, Fresno State plays host to Washington. Yawn. "TheWashingtonmatchdoesn't countinrankings. Ifsjustascrim- mage really," said Bulldog Bert Lemercier, who is 12-8. "We just want to get it over with. Well just try to take care of business." FSU's businessat home has been a squeaky clean operation. The Bulldogs an? undefeated (8-0) in matches played on their campus courts. Senior Marcos Carzo, named Big West Conference Player of the Year, leads the FSU attack.
