Water Polo finishes seventh
COIXEGIAN SPORTS STAFF
The Fresno State water polo team
finished seventh at the recent UC-
hvtne Invitational hosted by UC-.
Irvine.
FSU completed pool play with a 1-2
record, with "Twin over 20th-ranked
Cal-State Los Angeles 6-5. and losses
to No.' 5 UCI 11-7 and No. 7 Southern

Sunday over No. 4 Long Beach state.
Don Kenney led the Dogs with 10
goals in the tourney. Including four In
the Ion to USC. Wen Threlkeld added
nine goals for Fresno State.
FSU hits the road again this
weekend, with games at Claremont
Mudd Friday and USC Saturday.

Senior Cindy Rockwood-Amster
was the top Bnisher for FSU. coming
In 12th In 18:20.1. She was follwed by
senior Betty Chavez (15th. 18:24.1).
Juniors Julie Verke (26th. 18:40).,
Evelyn Martlno (36th. 18:57.5) and
Shannon Ueder (19:07.8], sophomore
Therese Klncben (65th. 19:42.7) and
Junior Ann Kuphaldt-Quevedo (73rd.
20:01).
Bulldog coach Red Estes noted that
the times were significantly faster
this year due to a deeper, more
talented field of runners.
"The (women] ran well in a quality
field," he said. The whole race was 25-
30 seconds faster (than last year)."
The Bulldogs will not take part in
next weekends Aztec lnvitntinn.il in
San Diego. The top seven men's and
women's finishers the FSU
Invitational are slated' to go to the
Sept. 29 Hawaii Invitational In
Honolulu.
