Crane (12-1) now leads the Dogs pitching in victories and Sunday's performance lowered his ERA to a miniscufe 2.02. Schullstrom leads tbe team in ERA with a 1.66 and Fresno's other starter and ace, John Salles. paces the team in strikeouts with 112. Fresno also scored single runs in the second, fouth and the seventh on Sunday as Steve Hosey recorded all three RBI's in the three innings. The first one in the second was on an RBI double to right that scored Burton who had been hit by a pitch. In the fourth, he ripped a run-sconng single to center with two outs that scored Shebelut who had earlier walked. Finally, the sophomore star nailed his 10th homer of the year, a solo shot over the left field fence as he lead off the seventh inning. "It'll be tough when we go on the road next week," said Hosey, "but we don't care who we play, because we're playing hard and we feel as if no one can get in our way." On the afternoon, FSU produced 14 hits, including five of the extra base variety, and turned in two double plays as they took over sole possession of first in the PCAA, with the victory over the Spartans who dropped to 2-7 in the PCAA. The 'Dogs are in first all alone because of UNLVs 6-5 loss to UOP on Saturday. The Bulldogs, who compiled a score of 1.114 in the two-day, 54-hole competition, bested the University of the Pacific, UC Santa Barbara and San Jose State and FSU Coach Mike Watncy feels that can give his team momentum going into the PCAA Championships May 2-3 in San Jose. "We went in the the full impression of showing the conference teams that we have a chance to win the PCAA Tournament," said Watncy. "That's the main thing now. It's the only way we can get to the NCAAs." No. 2-ranked Arizona took the U.S. Intercollegiate title with a tally of 1,080. No. 12 UCLA finished second at 1,097 and the University of Washington was third with a mark of 1,101. Kevin Leach of UCLA, who shot a 206, captured the individual championship. Fresno State was led by freshmen Randy Bridge (223), Kevin Carissimi (224) and Tim Wilcox (226). "We've played better than we've been playing," said Watney. The tournament did give us a boost because we did beat all the coriference teams. "We still didn't have a great last round, but we had a better one than most of them this year."
