We sincerely appreciate all of the letters received. Dear Dickran, It is with great pleasure that I read of your appointment to the Haig & Isabel Berberian Chair of Armenian Studies at California Slate University, Fresno. It is'the just crowning of a prolific and multi-faceted academic, literary, and social career, Y.iu have been a solid asset to Armenian studies world-wide and you fully deserve this appointment that honors you, the University and the1 community lhat you serve. You have for many years been one of our brightest lights in Armenian studies, both in America and in France, and arc certainly worthy of the honor bestowed upon you. Finally. I would like to congratulate you for your life- of distinguished scholarship in Armenian studies and for being appointed as the first distinguished occupant of the Haig and Isabel Berberian Chair of Armenian Studies. In his memory, Bedros saw himself as courageous andprideful. So whw' -mm South of Ventura, where Broadway cuts, cuts across to the east, neiglibors gather at die corners and talk of homeland. We didn't mind, that all of us left, lived here, together in our own village where the chtrch bell rang, clang, past the small nouses in a row. Where the women toughed at Khachig, staggering, weaving on the sidewaalk on J Street and San Ben ito laughing uncontrolled.
