Highway to Hell" is the title or an album put out by the bands that headlined the Moscow Music Peace Festival. It Is a compilation of cover tunes that were written by musi¬ cians'that had a drug or alcohol prob¬ lem. The proceeds are going to the Make A Difference Foundation and All Union for Sobriety, who both deal with alcohol and drug abuse. However, thislsnotalive album of the festival. Only three of the songs are from the "Jam" at the finale of the festival. It Is appropriate that the first group on the album is the Soviet band Gorky Park. But their version of the Who's "My Generation" leaves a lot to be desired. Besides beingalmost unrecognizable, the chorus Is shouted and the guitar solo is very cUched. Itisobvious though that these guys have learned from their western counterparts. Skid Row's cover of the Sex Pistols "Holidays in the Sun" sounds closer to the original than any other song on the album- Instead of snarling the words though, he growls them. TheScorplons don't stray too far from their characteristic sound on "I Can't Explain", and that's what makes the song uninteresting. Bon Jovi does stray a little from their sound to do Thin Lizzy's "Boys Are Back In Town", but that doesn't manage to make them any more exciting to hear. With Zakk Wylde doing the guitar work.
