Number one-ranked University of California; "Los Angeles justified its ranking by sweeping Coach Margie Wright's second-ranked Bulldogs in two games at the Big West/Pac 10 Showdown tournament at Fullerton over the weekend. The last time the teams met was in last season's NCAA. Championship game, when UCLA scratched out a victory over Fresno State for the second consecutive year. Since UCLA and FSU. have no other games scheduled for this season, the lop two ranked teams in Ihecounlry may not meet again until this year's NCAA playoffs. The Bulldogs got a chance for redemption yesterday in a rematch with the Bruins, but shaky early pitching and defensive miscues contributed to the 5-1 loss. No sooner had pinch-runner Dina Lopez scored FSU's first run In the top of the second. UCLA responded with two of its own in the bottom of the innfrig. Missy Phillips singled, was sacrificed to second and scored on Kerry Dienett's stand-up double. UCLA beats FSU in showdown twice

K should have been called the
FSU / UCLA Showdown.
Number one-ranked University of
California; "Los Angeles justified its
ranking by sweeping Coach Margie
Wright's second-ranked Bulldogs in
two games at the Big West/Pac 10
Showdown tournament at Fullerton
over the weekend.
The last time the teams met was in
