To help plan activities for the new association, a Student Alumni Council is also being formed. Linda Van Kirk. Alumni Association executive director, said the SAC already has ISmembers. Memos were sent out to all deans, chairs and members of the Academic Senate asking them to submit names of qualified student leaders. "I had a list of about 50 names," said Van Kirk. "WeJust got the word out," she said. Van Kh-k said she is working on a charter for the SAA that will be submitted to Student Activities. It usually takes four weeks for a charter to clear tbe committee, she said. There is no charge to Join the SAA. but' members must be enrolled at CSUF, Juniors and seniors are preferred for the council, but any student can Join the SAA, said Van Kirk. Van Kirk said there were two goals established for the SAA by the council. "To get the word out, to let everyone know the SAA is here to serve the university." she said. "And that we are here to support the welfare of the alumnus." The SAA has three official purposes: to promote the development of CSUF, to promote the welfare of graduates, current and former stud¬ ents and friends, and to support, encourage and promote interest and participation In higher education. Alumni Include anyone who has taken 12 units ot more at CSUF, as well as graduates, said Van Kirk. Students can also join the Alumni Association, but are not required to pay yearly dues. ^ Although the council has yet to select activities.
