Page 8 Wridnesday. February 1. 1989 Tne DaQy CoUeglan Mustangs drown 'Dogs Fresno Stale's men's and women's swimming teams each suffered a loss on the road Saturday as they both fell to Cal Poly-SLO. WOMEN'S RESULTS For the women's squad this is only the Bulldog' second loss with a 10-2 mark overall and 2-0 in Big West action. The Mustangs defeated the Dogs 120- 85. Nine of the Fresno State swimmers had personal bests. Sophomore Erin ftuill, a Bullard High product, broke two of her personal records by winning-the 200 freestyle in 1:56.83 and the 100-yard freestyle in 54.72. Freshman Angel Tristan also took two events in personal best time beginning with the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.38) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:48.95). The Bulldog women's squad was picked seventh in the Big West Coaches' Poll. Also marking times in die Big West best times list were Liz LaBonte, Erin Gustafson and Tristan LaBonte hold die fifth and seventh bests in the 100 backstroke, 1:01.49 and 1:02.37, respectively. Gustafson holds the eighth place best time in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.78). Tristan is second in the conference in the 1650 free (17:46.01) and seventh in the 500 free from her performance Satruday. MEN'S RESULTS The men fell to a 3-5 overall record with the loss, 127-87, to the Mustangs and are 0-1 in conference action with one Big West competition left. Sophornore Kevin Hatch took first in the 1000-yard freestyle (1012.46) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.98). Tom Overstreet, a junior from Madera, placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.57) and the 200-yard free relay team took first with a time of 1:29.43.
