Still, Paul wouldn't oppose the plan if her campus was selected and a strong AIDS education program was included. "It could be controversial. It depends on how they do iL It's all marketing." AIDS testing poses other serious problems, Gobdhan added. False positive lest results are not uncommon, she said, and can leave devastating emotional scars. "I'm not sure many schools have the support services necessary to deal with lhaL There are a lot of consequences. A false negative can also provide students with a false sense of confidence." If the school tested has a low incidence of AIDS, Goodhan said, students may think ihey have nothing to fear—and years of safe sex education could be ignored.
