Off The Cuff Page 8/October 9, 1981-Dally Collegian Is the concept of homecoming outdated? By Richard Lenti and Mike Penn Jonalyn Bonander, freshman, home economics — No, I think it's nice because it's a good tradition. It gives you a feeling of belonging. Patricia Oliveira, graduate, education — No, I think it's coming back. It's been going on at this campus for five years. There was a time when it wasn't going on. It's not sexist, though. It's not a beauty contest anymore. The girls are judged on the contributions to campus as well. Bill Long, junior, physical education — No, it's not outdated, but there aren't many activities going on around campus that I know of. I didn't see a lot of signs up. Wayne Foraker, junior, business ._- ranistrati-n - Yes, I think it's kind of chauvinistic. If they are going to have a homecoming queen, then they should have a homecoming king. Diana Shin, freshman, liberal studies — Possibly yes. It was orginally started as a popularity and beauty contest, but hopefully we've gone past that in this day and age to more important issues. But for tradition's sake, it's fun. Tom Hullender, junior, business administration - No, I think it's kind of traditional. You have it in high school and it continues through college. I think it's a form of chivalry.
