The occasion will be celebrated with a tree planting ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lawless Elementary School at 5255 N. Reese Ave. A Japanese Black Pine tree will be provided for-planting on each of the district's elementary and secondary school campuses. The ceremony Thursday also will commemorate the start of Conservation Week as well as Arbor Day, which in California coincides with the birthday of horticulturist Luther Burbank on Sunday. March 7, and is sponsored by the California Association of Nurserymen.
