September 7, 1+7*) New engineering fraternity CSUF students inducted into Eta Kappa Nu By Dabble Morgan »iai> Cohegian Staff Reporter Twenty students and four profession , ..■ '.een inducted into membership m the Theta Kappa Chapter of Fu Kap pa Nu national honor society oi electrical engineering, newly chartered at California State University F res no Marc Dodson, immediate past presi dent of the national society, conducted the ceremonies and presented the chart er to Or James Matheny dean of the CSUF School of Engineering Dr loseph Plunkett, associate professor ot engin eering ond already a member ot the son ety assisted in the proceedings t> Plunkett commented that the elec trical engineering at CSUF is large enough to support the new chapter, and that most established schools in this field have society Students from F resno who were indue •ed included F ariborz Agahdel Dante hu William Ftcheverry Saed Chafou Man F3un Lau I esus Olivo Dan Rowe John Sinerchto Robert Sharrah Larry Shintaku Russell Sohm Douglas Lrabe and Walter Wong Other s»uCenr«. inducted were Patrick Correia and Calvin Masuda both of Merced Alan Cummins of Bakersfield < elestino Cseta oi Oovis Walter Crove of Dinuba Kevin Von Hoffmann of At water, and Karen Kawate of Sanger Members of the CSUF engineering fa cutty who were inducted included Dr Dennis Hagopian, Dr Hans Puttgen Dr Irvin Krai and Samuel Liao Dr Matheny said 'We are proud to iom the leading engineering schools across the nation that have Eta Kappa Nu chapters and provide this coveted op portunity to the electrical engineering students at CSUF This marks one more milestone in the development of one of the finest engineering schools in Califor nia * At the present time ' said Dr Math **ny 'our graduates are highly sought bv the best industries in California and many enter the most prestigious gradu ate *<~hools in the nation * At the present time, the electrical en gineering program at CSUF offers un der graduate opportunities wrth ex ten sive laboratory facilities in power sys terns, solid state electronics, digital and controls systems with hands-on compu ter experience, and communications, in eluding microwave and laser techniques Dr Matheny said the School currentry is insulting a solid state device labor a tory in which the students can fabricate diodes, transistors and integrated cir cuits He said 'This will provide one ol the few opportunities in California for the student to work in a solid state device laboratory which is strongly oriented to wards undergraduates Children's plays, classes offered by Child Drama Center A special Fall Festival of F vents for children was announced this week by Flsom Eldridge director of the Child Drama Center at CSUF Included on the ag*nda will be per formances of a children s play entitled The Noodle Doodle Box a fantasy magic show and two puppet shows, one of which will be a special Christmas presentation Performances will be offered on school days as veell as on weekends in order to allow teachers to arrange for their classes to attend Reservations tor the Festival will be taken starting September w In dw past dw Center has offered shows on an individual ticket basis but starting this season all shosys will be part of a series plan whereby four performances can be purchased tor the price of three.
