ANOTHER YEAR When the Ust senior receives his diplonu next Thursday evening at the 36th annual commencement exercises, the 1946-47 school year By Gordon Scott THE PERSONNEL ... for the Rally Committee has always been a matter of selecting least the students who were ready to put in long hours for little recognition. T in past ones, the Rally members lessly overburdened by making them responsible for too many affairs during the football season. For this group of twenty-Hi bers to be responsible for pre-gnmc between-half stunts, and after game dances meant that their energies had to be taxed tol a point which caused neglect of some of those] important duties. Next year some cnnsiilera- tion must be given to the Rally group. By designating the Public Relations Committee the duty of preparing and staging pre-game rallies and the Freshmen Week Committee the job of arranging after-game dances, none of the student committees will be overworked. At the same time, members of committees outside the Rally group will be taking < student activities and will be feeling of the student government. a whilt Ici.c.r It will be hard (or students to foreet the hurried and harried meetings preceding the Oklahoma game last fall, for at that time greater understanding and tolerance arrived on the Fresno State College campus. Students will remember the special train to San Jose, the first special train since before the war. They will remember defeat at the hands of the Spartans on a rain soaked field—they will also remember victories over such rivals as Santa Clara and COP. Again Fresno State won the swecpsrakes award in the annual Armistice Day parade. Maxinc Larscn. FSC coed, reigned over the Armistice Day events as "Miss Victory." A little later. Dorothy Dillman was chosen Campus Queen and was crowned at an elaborate ceremony during the annual Queen's Ball. Events came fast and furious during the entire year—there were few dull moments New events appeared on the campus—ihe Kil- roy Contest which was judged by George Mo Manus, famed illustrator of Maggie and Jiggs. and the Kilroy Dance which swelled the coffers of the World Student Service Fund. And there were rhe regular events which will always be a part of the college's calendar—Blue Key Community Chest Dance. Zeta Mu Sweetheart Dance, the Sadie Hawkins Dance, the Blue dents, the sheet covered the activities ...f the frolicking students in the high Sierra vacation land. The paper was eight pages, issued every Friday. Key Carnival, Hey Day, and the Masque Ball j o which brought Fresno State its firsc name band | *" for a college affair. Who will forget the Varsity Varieties and 'f ihe talcm-loadcd cast which included Eddie i, Cintor? Who will forget the student council * debates—to have or not to have Spring Sw ing? . Who will forget the council meetings which h lasted far into the night? And the priiblem of J^1"'•* whether or not to revise the constitution? Under the able leadership of Student President George Zcnovich, the 1946-17 school year will no doubt go down in Fresno State's history " as one of the most active an J most successful. '„ The year has been one of many trials, but a really successful year is never one which rui smoothly. When the last senior receives his diploir next Thursday evening, the 1946-47 school year H will become another year in Fresno State's his- jai tory—but it will be a year which will not be I. soon forgotten.
