September S, 196 1969-70 student government committees set Student government officers President Newly elected President Doug Broten Is a history major and active In scores of campus activities. His office, always open to • students, is located in the College Union Building. First Vice President He performs the duUes of ihe president In his absence and presides over the Student Senate. Moose, a live English bulldog, Is the Mascot and is In evidence at every football game. Wearing the school colors of cardinal and blue, head cheerleader Bob Braltman is, of course, responsible for leading the yells at games and rallies. The Rally Committee, headed by Braltman, organizes rally and half-time actlvlUes and helps boost school spirit. It is also responsible for elecUngpepglrls and yell leaders and for helping with after-game dances. Freshmen and new students may apply al the beginning of their first semester for work on this student committee; applications and Information are available In Ihe Student President's Office or the Student Activities The Cal Poly-FSC Bell Is * tradition at Fresno State. It goes" to the winner of the California Polytechnic College (San Luis Obispo) - Fresno State College football game. The victorious school paints ihe bell its school colors and keeps lt until the next annual contest. Bob Braltman fills this office. Student Senate This group meets weekly and consists of senators-at-large, class senators, school senators and representatives from the permanent boards on performing arts, athletics, college union and publications. This is the chief representative body of the slu- Student Court Composed of five students, the court conducts heatings on matters brought before it. Cases under the jurisdiction of the court include violation of college regu lations, misuse of student body card privileges, gambling on campua and unethical academic conduct. The associate dean for activities Is a non-voting member of the Student Court. Standing committees All association elections are under the control and supervision of this committee. It establishes an election code covering the procedures for nominations, campaign and elections. Disqualification of terpretation of the code is also under this committee's jurisdiction. New Student Orientation This committee plans and sponsors events to introduce new students to FSC. Activities Include the Howdy Dance, Picnic and Fi'osh-Soph a Rally The selection of yell leaders and pep girls Is the duty of this group. New pep girls are selected each semester, during October and at the end of April. Service to International Students This committee works to ac quaint the foreign students with the campua and theaute.lt sponsors trips for the atudenta and helps In the production of the ■Campus International.* .. Tutorial With a staff of 75 student tutors, assistance is given to primary and secondary students throughout the Fresno area. Women's Affairs Women's activities such as the Queen's Ball, Queen's Tea, Maid of Cotton Tea, and Honors Night are under the jurisdiction of this group. It maintains national AWS recognition and sets up rules of conduct and dress for the women attending FSC.
