Y COLLEGIAN Monday, September FSC students pay for grid, cage games Fresno State College students, In addition to showing their student body cards, will have to pay a $1 admission fee to ~ football and basketball games The decision to charge students for home contests was made by the Senate Board on Athletics after that group had resisted for years the temptation io charge students. Traditions have place on campus Alma Mater la sung following assemblies and athletic events. It is Important that all new students learn thla song and also remember to stand whenever the Alma Mater Is played or sung.' Cal Poly FSC Bell is awarded lo the winner of the annual Cal poly, San Luis Obispo-Fresno SUte College football game. The winner paints Ihe bell its school colors and keeps lt for the following year. College Seal is located In Memorial Court near the southwest corner of thead mini strati on building. The translation of the words, "Lucen AccipeUt Red- das," means "Receive the light so that you may give it forth.' It Is a gift of the 1956 graduating Moose III, Ihe husky bulldog mascot, came to FSC In 1964. The college has been known as the "Battlin' Bulldogs' for about Senior Benches, which line the ' paths of Memorial Court, were presented to the college by each graduating class. Freshmen are not to sit on these benches. Students Should always rise when the college President rises to address an assembly, meeting or gathering of students. Prior to the Ball, candidates for campus queen are elected by popular vote of the entire student body. The identity of ihe Queen and her four attendants is announced ai the Ball, open to all FSC students and their guests. ,D.versity, is key word Diversity Is the key word describing most student activities at FSC. There is a myriad of the traditional college activities available to each student coupled with the greatest cultural and recreational activities of Ihe beautiful San Joaquin Valley and In addition to opportunities found listed In these columns, student life extends beyond the campus boundaries. The ski slopes of Badger Pass and China Peak are within a very short distance. Sequoia, Kings and Yosemlte National Parks are no more than a two hour's drive and afford opportunities for camping, picnicking, riding, and numerous other activities. For the surf's-up set, tbe beaches are only a few hours away. The coastal town of Santa Cruz, Monterey's Old Cannery Row and plcturesqueCarmel provide an Interesting outlet. Activities Office serves all students The Student Activities Office, located in the New Adminlstra- . tlon Building,Room 286, provides Invaluable coordinating and advisory services to atudent organizations and to students In-, volved In campua activities and . In student government. Tha office, under the leadership of Kenneth Kerr and Patty Hodges, maintains a record ofpastyears' activities, and with the help of the student Calendar and Date Committee, sets up the social and activities calendar. Freshman and transfer students seeking Information on student organizations, student activities, student government,, or any aspect of campus social life are welcome to visit the office and to discuss their Interests with the Activities Advisers. The Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Monduy'Septembetr^, J THE DAILY COLLBatAN 2 buildings house 'wheels' The Frank w. i (ration Building, located between the Speech Arts and Agriculture Buildings, housed ail administrative offices — offices of the Preaident, Vice Prealdenta, Community Relations, Research and Institutional Stadias, etc. Extension and Slimmer Sessions Offices are located In the Southeast wing of the Building. Students should remember that the Thomas Administration Building also houses the Department of English and all English professors' offices and also the School of Graduate Studies. The New Administration Building is the only campus structure located on the east side of Maple Avenue. The Building houses many, if not all, of the offices that students visit every day during their college career-student Tbs School of Social Work and faculty offices are also located In the New Administration Building. FSC Rodeo held in March The annual Rodeo is one of ths most colorful, thrilling and distinctive activities of the year. Sponsored by tbe Rodeo Club and the National Inter-Collegiate Rodeo Association, it is usually held In March at the Clovis Rodeo grounds. The theme Is strictly western and the weekend usually proves to be "wild and woolly." Meet our campus representatives. />, Brotherhood, pursuit of aocial activity and Just plain fun are imes of "Greek Week," conducted each spring by the Intel-fraternity Council, Pan- hellenlc and Its 10 fraternities and six sororities. Greek Week Is annually observed aa one of the highlights of the college year, In which each house in Greekdomls Involved. Carla and Bob represent United California Bank on the Fresno State Campus.
