Yes. children of elementary school age arc a problem to every driver of an automobile. But the solution docs not he with the child who is less impelled by reason than emotion. It lies with the driver. A local aggtavaiion of this problem faces the student mototist ever)- morning and afternoon on Van Ness Boulevard just two blocks south of the college. Children, most of them under 12 years, must ctoss this thoroughfare while going to and from school. Their only protection is the small yellow flag in the hands of some other twelve- year-old. Those lowered banners mean "STOP." Yet a few Fresno Staters have been observed '"driving through the flags when no more children are in sight. Who but the all-seeing one has the omniscience to be certain that a twelve-year-old won't sprint througb-the ped lane to catch up with chums on the other side of the street?
