Last Thursday the president met with seven faculty and ad- mlnlstrarlve spokesmen, mostly conservatives. It Is reported that the changes were discussed then. Two persons who attended the meeting, Dr. Kenneth Beesley, execuUve dean, and Dr. Norman Baxter, academic vice president, reportedly oppose the shakeup. One source said they came close to resigning over the issue last Week but that they were talked out of it. Alex vavoulis, chemistry department, said, 'For all we know there may be letters (announcing the changes) In the mail. Of course, this Is the plight of all people wbo are not in positions of power (not being sure). 'I hope they decide to follow the procedures wo have on campus (concerning hiring and firing) but I am sure this is what they don't want to do." Dr. Blggerstaff said last night he received a telephone call Sunday afternoon on this Issue, but nothing 'definite* waa.determined.
