Theta Chi managed to take the championship with a narrow 12-6 win Theta Chi Is this year's winner of the Intramural football league. After a postponement of about a week, Theta Chi and HomanWest of the Dorm league met In the snslilp game yesterday and :a Chi CI >, 12-6 s by Dave Gromls to Bill e the 6-6 tie that J lasted most of the game. Iloman West wasted little time n scoring. They took the open- ng kickoff and marched down the Held ft the s plays. It took Homan Just two plays to reach Theta Chl's one- yardllne. Then on third down, McCutcheon honored Cleo McCutcheon, defensive right tackle was voted the San Joaquin Valley Sportswriters and Sports- casters Association player of the Week, after his performance against Arizona McCutcheon made seven unassisted tackles and assisted on 14 others. He was instrumental In making Arl- Stewart,- throw a pass interception which led to the Bulldogs' first touchdown, as' safety Jack Erdman picked it off on Arizona's four yard McCutcheon played junior college football at fceedley College. Theta Chi wins title in intramural football The Bulldogs will bring their 1969 football season to a close this Saturday night when they play thePortlandStaleUnlverslty Vikings In Ratcllffe Stadium. Last week the Bulldogs upset Northern Arizona University, ranked ninth by the Associated Press, by the score of 27-18 while Portland waa whipping Southern Oregon 54-7. It haa been a long, tough season for the Bulldogs. Injuries have hit the Bulldogs all season. Coach Darryl Rogers saw a backfleld that started the season with some very hard-running backs, but by the time half the season had gone by, they were all gone due lo Injuries. In one week the Bulldogs lost their two lop rushers. Both Walt Jensen and Gary Caropreso had to undergo surgery on the same day after Ihey had suffered Injuries the week before. Jensen had an operation on his hand and Caropreso had surgery performed on his knee. Other Injuries that have hampered the Bulldogs this season Include Ervln Hunt, probably the best defensive back ever to play !CE HOCKEY Students Half Price FRIDAY & SATURDAY 3:30 PM SELLAND ARENA at Fresno SUte. Water polo scheduled The Fresno State water polo team will take part In the 2nd annual Pacific Coast Athletic Association Conference at Long Beach this Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs finished the dual season with a 12-7 record. In the tournament, the Bulldogs will be relying on All-Amerlcan candidate senior Steve Heaston, who leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 64 points.
