The award, a year's supply of Sear's re-usable toilet tissue, was presented to FSC's President - In - Residence Norman A. Sherwood, by the Honorable Ronnie "Recycle* Reagan. Some of the Impressive actions which garnered Fresno State the much-sought award were em- wood with a dull razor blade for obvious ecologically-sound s included: helping nlng to use funds earmarked for "underprivileged" students. Earlier this month, Sherwood had voted to not appropriate $50,000 to scholastic programs at FSC. He along with other students and faculty, asked that the wood's discretionary fund and be used by Sherwood to finance ac- ' tlvltles of Ihe Senate. Most senators agreed with Sherwood's plan to keep the $50,000 inhlsdiscretionary funds and most wanted to use the money worthwhile projects for the the college. The .senate had planned to use the money for a steak and lobster dinner for all senators and atrip to Hawaii for 10 lucky student legislators. Senator Steve (the Rock) Soriano, Introduced Ihe tar and feathering resolution after he learned that Sherwood was planning to use the money to finance a trip to the French Riviera to study low-cost housing. Soriano said, *I wouldn't have minded Pip using the money logo to the Riviera, but we bad already picked the names of the 10 senators who were going to Hawaii and I was one of them.' Soriano said the worst blow came when Sherwood did not even invite one senator to accompany htm on his Riviera trip.
