F' -The Fresno State College Collegia •COUEG1AN THE COLLEGIAN OFT1CE "30" RADKA SPEAKS Dear Fresno State College: Well, here it is June again and time (or us to be leaving you. Some of us will be back in September to renew our acquaintance with your Cardinal and Blue, while others will seek new fields of endeavor. Wc who arc departing envy those who are coming back. You have been a perfect host and wc couldn't have asked for a better time. The 19-10-11 school year seems all too short now as wc look back on it. It was not long ago when wc darned near beat San Jose on the gridiron, but, alas, wc failed you. (Our only alibi is this: San Jose has horseshoe pitching as a major sport and every time we play them in football, they always bring over part of their horseshoe equipment.) But our baseball and track teams stuck up fot you in grand style, winning two CCAA championships. Our basketball team tried hard, but we think they were still kind of seasick when their regular league season started. Speaking of the athletic teams, wc want to thank you for all the colorful traveling jackets you gave our athletes. It is certainly a miracle how you work that budget around to meet all the When you stop and think about the new $75,000 Ratcliffe Stadium enlargement and the recently completed $35,000 baseball park, not to mention tbe new $165,000 student union, it is truly remarkable how you make the dollars stretch when they need stretching. But wc daresay that you will come out okch when budget fixing time rolls around in the fall -. . . that is, if your enrollment holds up ... and if we have the right idea about the spirit of Cardinal and Blue, it is a sale bet that most of the freshmen, sophomores and juniors will be back to say "hello again!'' in September. Of course, there is this gol darn war to contend with, and there's no telling how long it will take for the world to catch up with Hitler and pin his moustache back. He is the most elusive fellow we have ever known, and boy, die members of the senior class are plenty burned up at him. You see, Mr. FSC, it's awful tough to live through four swell years at your establishment and then walk out the front door to put on an army uniform. We were not counting on that at all when we first wore our green dink caps 'way back in 1958, but the pages of history have played a dirty trick on us, and it's all Hitler's fault. 3>lcU 2>Ofie I qtoHUUtutitk I COLLEGE TO PRINT ~~1 -*^7 I twn*™™*** J pUBL|C,TY BOOK But we don't blame you . a fine. wo sir! You have thankful for it. (Which reminds us, you had bet- i cer keep that Frank W. Thomas fellow on the payroll. He is one reason why you're rhe fine college you are, and while we're about it, we might as well put in an appreciative word for ALL the faculty. We have certainly enjoyed knowing them and here's hoping the feeling is mutual.) - Well, it's time to leave now, so bat's wishing you the very best of luck, Mr. FSC, and if we find time to get around to raising families after this war is over, you can bet the last dollar in your budget rhat our sons and daughters will be seeing you some nice day in September.
