By Chuck Knox Collegian Sports Editor Our own Fresno State football team might end up spending a mid- December Saturday afternoon In Pasadena if a few things turn out right between now and November 2?. Tha Bulldogs would not be there for fun though, it would be as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association's representative in the Pasadena Bowl football game. •How?* you say. Well, with a little luck and four more conference wins FSC gets the trip. Two big stumbling blocks named Cal State Long Beach, lastyear'sPCAAUUlst.andSanDlego State are standing In the way but not quite so rigid as the last season. Fresno Is playing some good football now that they have hopefully gotten the fumbles and Interceptions out of their system. The FSC defense Is only slightly second In the conference charts, having given up 230.7 yards per game compared to San Diego's 204. The Bulldog offense Is also second with 356.2 yards average per game and Is the leader In rushing offense. Long Beach is the overall offense leader with 384 yards. As for the two teams in question, Fresno State Is going to have to wait until Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 to find out. After Judge M. D. Crocker of Fresno set aside Brown's suit until February 1972, Brown filed suit in the US Federal Court In San Francisco. The federal court In San Francisco declared that the high cost of filing fees ni •Only rich men can run for political offices now,* Brown said. "I want to open up the elections to everyone.* Brown's goal Is to get the 'pro fessional politician' out of politics. He feels this can be accomplished by haying free air time for all candidates and by also having low filing fees. Brown, a graduate of Fresno State College, recently petitioned the FCC to order all radio aad television* stations to give free air time to all political candidates. / According to Brown, the broadcast industry Is discriminating against candidates who cannot afford to pay for access to the publicly-owned airways. Brown proposes the adoption of the following rule by the FCC (Continued on Page 3, CoL 1) Former FSC tennis coach pleads guilty to $867 theft Richard A. Murray, former Fresno State College tennis coach, has pleaded guilty to the theft ot $867 In FSC student payroll funds. According to the district attorney's oirice, Murray obtained a part-time job with the college for student Robert Wilkinson, who was to give Murray all but $10 of each paycheck to defray tennis expenses. Tennis expenses Barnard accepted Murray's guilty plea with the understanding that the offense would be handled as a misdemeanor. Murray will be sentenced Oct. 26. Murray, a three year veteran partment faculty, left the college In June 1970 to Join the staff of the University of California at Santa Cruz. He is now living In Murray reportedly turned In 10 vouchers on behalf or Wilkinson between Oct. 9, 1969 and June 10, 1970.
