Although nothing official has been said, rumors are flying heavily this week that Fresno . State College students may have rwo weeks of Christmas vacation instead of the minimum short week instituted to compensate for a late start this fall. Whether or not the two.weeks' vacation materializes, the fact still remains that downtown merchantt^are desperately in need of salesmen CO help with the prC-Christmas rush—thc-sup- posed reason that an extra long vacation is being considered. College students should realize that the opportunity presents itself now to be a definite asset to the community, to say nothing of valuable experience in store work for themselves and a chance to earn a little pin money besides "Don't look a gift horse in the face." If the two weeks' vacation docs not arrive, students should work downtown in their free hours and . Saturdays; if the vacatibn docs happen, students • should be proud to spend their rime at all- round worthwhile jobs.—Martin. Bread on the Waters At best, eight per cent of the student body has donated books to the Pan-Hellenic drive . Assuming that everyone in school has contributed-an equal amount of money, each student has apparently sacrificed the magnanimous sum of six cents."
