Sanchez, Fresno County Administrative Officer and a candidate for the lGth Congressional District seat long occupied by B. F. Slsk. professes a 'great deal of Involvement'with the college and Its students. A graduate of FSC, Sanchez is Degree and for Ihe past 10 con- vlser to Sigma Chi, a campus fraternity. The newest and youngest member of the Board of Trustees, he of minutiae the board deals with, he predicted he will be a "champion" ln returning a good measure of campus autonomy. Sanchez, who at last week's meeting voted ln favor of tuition on the state coUege campuses along with 11 of the other 17 members of the board, has been criticized locally for his pro- tultlon vote. The Board ofTrust- wlll be sent to the CaUfornla State Legislature for approval, Sanchez justified his action by emphasizing that the 'tuition votes were there period." Thus his address will comply with the general theme specified for the Beth Anne Harnlsh Memorial Lectures, of which this ls the fifth. ~That theme ls 'The Student In Search of Eternal Truth.' Sir Bernard Is director of Britain's Jodrell Bank Observatory. In Ihe summer of I960 he became the first west- the Soviet space faclUUes and tracking observatories. The Harnlsh lectureship was established in memory of the late Beth Harnlsh, a member of the 1964 class of FSC who was killed ln an airplane crash ln September 1961 while returning from a Methodist student conference. Nine campus security men were finally successful in rescuing the dean; however, ln so doing one officer received minor head Injuries from a thrown ashtray and minor during the lnveaUgaUon, nor did he attempt to. Asked by a local newsman why criminal charges and suspensions were brought against only six of the 40-50 persons who were at the meeUng, Dr. Falk repUed that "the admlnlstraUon reserves the right to bring charges against other Individuals as they are IdenUfled." While aUeging that Toney and the five students were "somewhat ln leadership", when asked how these leadership roles were determined, Dr. Falk said that It was largely a matter of Identification on Walker's part.
