The policy of the Dally Collegian has never been one of reckless name calling or mud slinging snd we do not propose to begin such s practice now. There has been progress on this campus, but it can easily be erased. If this community allows itself to succumb to the throes of the political battle forced upon us, Fresno Stale will not only stop progressing, It will regress. This regression need not take the form of face-to-face confrontations between students and law enforcers either. But it can occur. Is this what we want Steps are currently being taken to establish closer ties between tho minority editions and regular editions of the Collegian. Minority editors will become regular members of the Collegian staff and will work more closely with tho editor of the Collegian. A broader spectrum of news snd events will be presented. More Important, with the experiences of this semester, sll students can begin to understand and appreciate each other to a point whore separate publications of any sort will not benecesssry. Hopefully, this time will come, but only if we are given ample time for such a relationship to evolve naturally. Situations of this type cannot be aealgned a specific number of days, works, etc.. In which to be resolved. After all, Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation In 1865. this is 1989 and black people still do not have their freedom or equality.
