It is safe to say that John Olson, freshman class president, has learned more in the past week of the intricacies involved in student government than in six weeks as head of thc WHERE . . oh, where have the typewriters gone? The college comptroller, seen on the prowl after three missing typewriters, one "copped" from the journalism "ramrod's" office, one from the Caravan office, and one from the training school. Perhaps several Junior G- Men should be employed. CONFUSION ... at student council. The very effete quailing at suggestion of the naughty, naughty word "spitoon." The aforementioned expectoration target was suggested as a remedy to the not-too-sanitary Union. Thc cuspidor is an instrument of commendable utility, being able to consume both solid and liquid. STILL . . . nothing is being done about tbe recommendation by the student council a week ago that a coolcd-wntcr drinking fountain be installed in the Union. Some even go so far as to suspect the co-op management of mangling the proposal so that they may promote sales of soft drinks. the- experiment is valuable Mc-mbcrs of The Col- d;u» all-frosh staff cheerfully shouldered temporary responsihiiitv in iheil chosen activity. Finally, thc " Frosh-wcek" project gives thc freshman class a chance to present to the rest of the student body something besides the customary class debt. A class which has capable- leaders and an abundance of initiative has every chance to demonstrate that it is tfn organization to be considered seriously For these reasons, if for no others, the "frosh- week" idea instituted this year by Student Prcsi- dent Herb Futrell should be continued each fall for entering freshmen.
