Yesterday's contact proved unsuccessful when all Fresno stations reported "conditions prevented contacts with Hawaii." The Fresnans blamed "sun spots or something" ior failure to get through to tho islands. °COlL£OIAW FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1939 SMART PEOPLE OMEGAS LEAD GRADE POINTS By Jean Kautenberg Sororities again triumphed over fraternities in spring gradt averages, as the Omega Xi Omicron sorority led all other cam pus groups with an average of 1.59 in figures released late yesterday by Dean of Women Mary Baker. Highest fraternity average for last spring was the 1.55 of the Zeta Mu fraternity. Women students also led in the spring of 1938. Alba Pichetto, junior, and Delta Sigma Kpsilon, led the women with a perfect average of 3.00. Laverne Call, Delta Mu Phi, senior, who was first last year with a perfect score, dropped to 2.96 this spring to take second place. Running third was aids pich.tt. Gladys Scheidt, sophomore Alpha Theta, with an average of 2.88. Sororities' averages are as follows: Omega Xi Omicron, 1.59; Alpha Theta, 1.55; Delta Kappa, 1.513; Delta Sigma Epsilon, 1.512; Delta Mu Phi, 1.43; Sigma Phi Gamma, 1.42; and Psi Chi The Delta Mu Phis, who led last year with an average of 1. ran fifth this year, and the Delta Kappas, in third place this yc ran second in the previous scoring.
