THE COLLEGIAN A Change for the Better The Fresno State College administration took a fine step forward yesterday in the eyes of the Collegian when it centralized the registration process for the new spring semester. Not only was having the primary process moved to the library for the details a good bit of action, bat even a greater improvement was made when the fac- j nlty members were placed in the spacious reading room of the building. By these actions the administration has simplified process which in the past has been most annoying. The result is that at the present time a student can register, consult his advisor, and sign up for all of his courses in one building. In the past one has had to travel from one end of the campus to the other, up one stairs and down another, and then ofttimes only to find the process mustj be repeated because of some minor slip. There is only one thing that the Collegian has trouble in understanding—why the present system wasn't incorporated years ago. In approving the new system, the Collegian does so merely on its own accord, but also for a large majority of students and faculty members who have praised the method. Not from one person has the Collegian heard uncomplimentary remark. At the same time the Collegian is certain that there naturally are some persons who are not in accord with; the changes (probably because it aids the student more! than the faculty). But if there are some who fail to strongly approve the change, it makes very little differ-1 ence because they would, in all probability, disapprove ■of anything that might alter the status quo. Another change, not related to the above topic, met the | temporary fate which in our.eyes was entirely wrong.] This was the proposed revision of morning class hours to allow for a free half hour. A majority of the students, showed themselves to favor the plan, the student council heartily approved of it and then along came a faculty; -vote which put the. screws on the change. However, the possibility still exists that the Recreation Hour may come into effect some time in the future, since the Collegian has learned that Dr. Frank W, Thomas has consented to give the plan a two-week try later in the semester.
