It borders upon sacralige, it has been aaid, to t_ fully of the dead; but in a time when so many factors are operating for war, we are thankful that one of these factors at least has been removed. For Zaharoff was reputed a maker of war; that was his business. He owed allegiance to no nation, selling as'cheer- fully to the enemies of the country in which he V country itself. His nationality was questionable, and that of hi ly doubtful. From whence he came, no one knows: how he rose to the position which he held at his death, no one knows; but where he went after his death a week ago (if such place really be) is obvious.
