There is a sad and bitter saga that has been told past year with its theme poignant with tragedy. Headlines have proclaimed it, terse radio messages have intoned it over the air and the people of the United States have just watched and waited ... The prologue was given in a tiny news release that secured little attention but the action has kept rising until the climax is now near. It has to be. The slow moving public opinion is ready to de- The first breath of tragedy was depicted when an alarmed senator charged that the United States Commercial Department was negligent in their observation of the airplane facilities of the nation. He pointed out the inadequate weather reporting, the worn equipment and the lax standards. No one paid any attention to the frightened gentleman ... Now, during the past year his worst forebodings have not only been realized, but were manifold aa a vast wave of air crashes have shocked the nation. Prominent people have died, planes demolished and untold stories buried in the wastes—all because a not listened to just a year ago. Heed lest the tiny voice does not become an angry shout. N.K.D.
