Once upon a time, there existed at Fresno State college a men's honorary sen-ice organization known as Omieron Pi. For some time after its organization, the members of Omieron Pi faithfully carried out the ideals of the founder. Soon, however, those honored by hemp hid as members of the group forgot about tine service part of the organization and began'to consider merely the honor involved.. I It was then that the fraternity began to decline in im- : portance and prestige. Here was an organization with an opportunity for real service to Fresno State, antl what did all of its'members do? After displaying qualities of leadership during their first two br three years in college, upon their election to Omieron Pi, most of the men rested on their laurels. The old organization known as Omieron Pi is di^ad— killed by its own members. A new honorary sen-ice group is needed; one that will place service to the college before even-thing else. In planning this new organization, definite provision should be made for its self-perpetuation. The Collegian suggests that the student president appoint a committee of five or six men, campus leaders, to confer with the dean of men regarding such an organization. At the same time, plans might be considered for a lower division service group modeled along the same lines as the upper division organization.
