No Make-up Exams? During- the last few weeks several student* have been denied the privilege of taking: make-up tests. It has also been rumored that some of the instructors favor eliminating make-up testa altogether. This would be a means of deleting dents purposely missing the test to take the make-up, but al the same time it would be an unjust hardship on the conscientious and honest student who unavoidably misses a test One student misses an exam and tells the in-tnti-tor that he, purposely cut the class. Of course he is denied the privilege of taking a make-up by some Instructors, and some still allow it upon payment of the dollar fee. Yet tbe student is honest. Another may go into detailed explanation' of tome reason that kept him from attending class the day the test was given. That student may also hsve ditched the class tbat day. but what is one little lie when whole college career may be at stake? Thus the honest student suffers while the "white liar" reaps the rewai Under the present system a student may take a make-up test upon payment of one dollsr to the office. If the instrnctor considers thst the student has a valid excuse for missing the exsm. the dollar ia T-etnrned. Dollars that are not raturned go into the genera] fond. Just why should the general fund receive this money? Why shouldn't it go into the department fund, or el ' the class! Make-up teste .ire not only fair but necessary. There i always a few absent in a large class whether or not a test Es gtv. Some concession should be made for those who tire ac-tually i re accurate check might be made able to attend. On' the way to Kansas the football team will stop off at Flagstaff, Arfeons, where the state college .will be met. Fresno State has been meeting the University of Nevada s number of seasons but this year, when the two Arizona teams were met, waa the first time a team representing ano other than Nevada ever played Fresno. The scheduling of the Kansas game is a distinctive step In the right direction and The Collegian believes thst Dr. Thomas and Earl Wight are to be congratulated on securing the games. Such s trip not only provides an incentive to the football . playert but is a great advei-ila-inent test the college.
