Coach to All Men Who "*u Seek Berth On Saturday, March 12, the Fresno State College Bulldogs enler into a new era in track competition when they meet the University of California Bears at Berkeley in a dual meet. State hns previously met two of the larger coast colleges in dual meets and defeated both. In 1929 they defeated U. C. L. A. Last year they gave the San Francisco tHynspic (Tub. a powerful Aggregation of former college stars, a tough battle by piling up 59 points to the club's 72, which speaks well for a college of this Althnugh the Bulldogs have overcome, or nearly defeated, such aggregations we should not take il that the University of California will be as easily vanquished. The university, while having been the weakest in track of the big three on the Pacific, Coa.st for the past seven years, is reputed to.have approsximately thf strongest team which it has had in this number of years. \ In spite of the strength of California, interest should runj high on the campus and in the squad, because a victory over the; Bears will insure the Bulldogs of meets with other large schools in the future. On the campus, the spirit of the track men can] be encouraged by an understanding of the competition and thei nun and by urging their strict adherence to training rules. Coach Flint Hanner states, that while not expecting a victory over the Bears, he hopes to gather 10 or more points. The Bull- tliif-s may surprise their coach and rabid followers by garnering those second and third places which all count tflward victory. This will only be accomplished if those-tnen who lire not rated as stars in their specialties will train hard and make an earnest effort toj place in these events. The Bears, although expecting a strong group of thinly dads from Fresno, may not citpect to see men! other than stars to come through, and this may possibly leave an j opening for the hard working second and third place men toj - these lagging points. , i the past, the student body has not shown that interest, should be prevalent during this sport. Get behind the hem to a greater interest in their events and thus we may e to achieve that which is not at present contemplated. —By Sthymmel and Fail-weather.
