For it may be in the Cardinal and Blue rooting section that the decision ot victory or defeat Is handed down. In an effort to check the epidemic of boos and other homely protests which have floated from stands In such generous quan. tities during recent games, Coach Flint Hanner has instructed officials of the Aggie games to put into use their privilege ot penalizing the home team for unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of spectators. And the Bulldogs, themselves, are backing the coach's action. They do not hesitate to say'that the crowd hurt them in the Nevada series. So it's left up to the fans to make the decision, in this day of one and two-point victories, one booing of either the officials or the opponents may determine the winner of this week's Nevada will call attention to and Saturday for a long time. The students are dependent on the paper for campus announcements for which they are held responsible, besides trie campus news. It is essential for the publication to reach the entire student body, therefore it is circulated gratis twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. . 3. The College enjoys an enrollment of 1852 students together with 102 faculty members. There are 822 men and 1030 women. Of the total enrollment, 684. are new students. 4. Since The Collegian is distributed free of charge, its circulation is assured to each and every student 6. It has _ _ News Sendees of the I medium read by many. 6. The College is centrally located in the San Joaquin Valley, and the students live In the city of Fresno or in the rural districts nearby. 7. The readers of the semi-weekly of the college represent a large buying power, and according to statistics compiled in 1930 by the Public Relations Committee—Fresno State College create? a market annually of over one million dollars, and further, that over sX) per cent of their'purchasing' is "cash," while over SO per cent do their buying: in the city of Fresno. .—-, 8. The advertising rate of the college paper is low in proportion to the quality of circulation, and it backs up advert isi'i;.: appearing in local pa pel's. Intimate and special appeal is possible, due to the fact that the students have many interests in common, 9. Modern youth demands fast and con: to rtable transportation, entertainment, style, and is receptive and alert. The College is a fertile field for modem advertising. College men and women arc selective buyers. 10. As present and future leaders of the social, scientific, and business world, it is expedient for the advertiser to educate and impress the college student with the'quality of his service. Readers' of the semi-weekly are potential customers for the necessities of the near future as well as the present Very definite buying habits are formed during college days. 11. "Collegiate" means the last word in modes and fashions. "Collegians" are respected—their word bears weight in the home and throughout the city of Fresno. 12. Families of students, and Alumni are affected by advertising in The Collegian in that many are on the mailing list and are actively -interested in the affairs of the institution. 13. Non-resident students gain their first and lasting impressions through the columns of the publication. 14. The Collegian is student owned and is published by students interested in the field of journalism. 16. Advertising in the semi-weekly publication promotes good-will — institutional feeling.
