In a similar situation at the University of Southern California last week, violations were handled in se.veral different ways without the election being completely invalidated. The Daily Trojan reports a meeting of the Senate Elections Investigating Committee to "total up fines for violations of paign rules in last week's election." Another story quotes the commissioner of elections as reporting "no MAJOR instances of dishonesty (were) uncovered at the polls but one person was turned over to judicial council for further action." ~ caps are ours. We would like to declare now, although many realize i ready, that The Collegian represents individual opinion is not an all-knowing institution. However, the editor does carefully weigh the facts and other persons' opinions before printing'an editorial. Regarding several of the points Richard Tinker men elsewhere on this page, nobody intended to slight the rights of the "majority." it is also a dubious point whether or not a "minority" element is trying to gain control of student affairs. If so, it is partially the fault of the majority because the majority does not even take the "one minute to vote." Tinker is to be commended if he thought the rights of students were being violated. The Collegian cannot commend him when he tries to belittle anyone for taking a "moral" sjand (the spirit of the law) rather than a "legal" stand. Only 6nex Pel-Son can make the final decision on which is more important in any activity. We willingly join Tinker in urging students to take the time to vote and, on our own, caution those who may be considering further violations of the constitution. No Alarm Necessary Last week the president of Fresno State College, Dr. E. Joyal, announced Fresno Junior College will probably be using some of the facilities on the FSC campus next semes- Undoubtedly, the announcement caused some consternation to local students already cramped in many respects. Students may well feel there are many difficulties in student government, extra-curricular and scholastic activities v, college is split between two campuses. To add the extr den of having another college's students on one of the campuses will make many activities quite formidable. It will be a difficult year in many respects for FSC dents—student activities will be hard to co-ordinate, those having business with the association office will face problems and, not least'of all, publishing a representative Collegian will be burdensome. But Joyal himself has stated the college will turn o\ facilities that it needs. The statement covers much ground and is sure to ease the minds of worried students and faculty members. Much as the college-would like to remain completely ' separate from the junior college, many sources are applying pressure to the FSC administration to give the crowded JCers room they desperately need. The biggest source of irritation next year will be o crowded student union building. We hope the administration and association officials will use extreme caution with facilities.. While it is almost impossible to prevent the dents from using the bookstore and cafeteria facilities, there are fringe areas that must be kept for FSC use only. That is not a selfish idea. It's merely facing the fact that the col- - lege needs various rooms and equipment. The transition period will last, in all probability, for next year only. After that most of the classes will be on the new campus and at least some of the necessary facilities will be constructed. "X Meanwhile, it will be a time to use patience and diplomacy In many affairs. We sincerely hope the student body will the difficulties in the same manner the administration has ildent-Ed Oalther.
