The Fresno State College Colleokrn— known in the more familiar sense as "panty raids" his achieved a new low in college "fads." Nothing can present a more revolting picture to the mature citizens of the country than this marvelous example of the "newest twist to the oldest of pranks." The situ "' 10 absolute solution is in the offing. College life reaches a new low in moral activity when the nonsensical actions of some alleged "students" are splashed ■cross the front pages of the nation's newspapers. The ac ided more topics for shop talk than the combined offi ings of Rita Hayworth, Ingrid Bergman, Dagmar, and Man- lyn" At Whitticr College, students became fired-up when the clerk of the area draft board promised to call all male students caught in such raids. To show that the men are not the only ones at fault, in this case many women students led a demonstration which saw the students hanging the draft board leader in effigy, and denouncing his proc u If the >1 why don't they tend to their studies and their extra- ar activities in a sane, grown-up, and decent and not act like crazed aborigines closing in for the kill? The clerk's suggestion may be just what many young men need to make them grow up. Photographer's threats to newsmen accompanied raids on the University of Southern California campus. Only after Los Angeles city police were called out were the' attackers dispursed, and then a high-pressure fire hose was employed to do the trick. It is all well and good to find entertainment and relaxation while at college. Naturally, on a resident campus the I is entirely different than it is here at Fresno State. Also, if we take into consideration the ncntionables that are the object of every male's affection, « appreciate the feelings of the coeds. Of course many things that go on in the colleges today are against the law, but none are as pronounced as the panty raid. Here at FSC with no sorority houses the fraternities the ones that are en guaide. Some male students have told us that they expect to be awakened from their sleepy stupor most any night and'rudely told to furnish their intruders with "the goods" or else. At one time a group of sorority women invaded the privacy of an FSC fraternity house, but did not inflict damage other than incurring surprise and shock on the victims. We can laugh and joke all we want to about the panty raids but in all fairness to our position as college students, our influence over younger people, and our duty to ourselves and the school, it would be better to undertake rive forms of leisure activity.
