The alumni have spoken end again the students are sub to the publicity seeking angles of that group. It seems as though every time we turn around there i queen contest. About the only function which doe* not have j its own beautiful, vivacious leader is the registration proce- The best suggestion we have to offer to offset this "c, ins" that is plaguing our institution, is that the campus queen —almost elected by popular vote of the students—he named | official wekomci, trophy presenter, and throne sitter I Fresno State. We really do not mean to be facetious in any way, but I number of queen contests truu\have settled their roots in t school is appalling. If the selection is handled in a fair, impartial' manner (and it would be the first queen selected without some form of mismanagement) the entire affair will be worthwhile. There will be pressure from the alumni to start the contest but the actual organization of the fete will be left to a handft of FSC students. We would say that most of the members of the alumi group joined with a sincere wish to help the school. But these persons do not know how or do not have the time to gi ball rolling. On the other hand those "wheels" who have the power! among the alumni big-wigs are in it for what they can get of it and the school and students can go to blazes. It is tl persona—always the big helper*—who want to get into swim for themselves or for some free publicity for their pri\ The students will have enough to do during homecoming what with the construction of displays, the Blue Key Carnival and the West Coast Relays, without electing a new queen. If the Fresno State College Alumni Association desires a queen for their homecoming let them choose one.
