(f DEC-5 1977 '■} Senators allege Baxter 'abusive' By Mike Fitigerald Staff Reporter Three members of student government who met privately with CSUF President Norman Baxter are alleging that Baxter was "a- buslve and insulting" throughtout the meeting. .-• Assistant to Legislative Vice President Steve Mink, Senator Beth Meyerson and frequent se- mte proxy Rachel Mendoza, who met with Baxter as part of the Senate Outreach program, claim that Baxter responded to their questions on the controversial D?A funding contract by telling them that it made no difference what student government wanted. The following Is the Senators' version, based on a text written by Meyerson and Mendoza imme diately after toe meeting, of what Baxter said. "JWhether you like it or not, contract or no contract, it doesn't matter what yon say or do--or anyone else. I have'complete authority to do what I want. You can't change it. I will put the money where I want tg in the end. Library contract awarded The State Department of Public Works has given approval to California State University and Colleges to award a contract In the amount of $5,232,000 for the construction of a library audition on the CSUF campus, , - .' Executive Dean Dr. Marvin Wampler saldfhe contract Is expected to be awarded within the next few days. The low bid for construction was submitted by the R.G. Fisher Company of Fresno. The library addition will be a four-story building located to the south of the present library. "Well it seems to me that they haven't been doing much," Mendoza claims she then said At this point Baxter Is alleged to have turned to Mink and said, "Well Steve, you haven't been saying much!" " . Dumke. The procedure Is reciprocal among the 19 CSUC campuses. It provides placement opportunities to students and alumni at campuses other than the campuses where they are enrolled or from which they have graduated. Dumke said that the staewide policy, which will continue on a trial basis until next Oct. 1, holds potential for greatly multiplying employment possibilities for stu- The policy permits students and alumni who are registered with the Career Placement Center at their home campus to subscribe to vacancy bulletins distributed by other campuses, and have access to open job listings, telephone job Information services, and career information. Trustees give stadium green light The California State University " and Colleges Board' of Trustees have approved a recommendation that CSUF be allowed to continue ' plans for the construction of a 30,000 seat stadium on campus. The action was taken Wednesday following a recommendation of approval by the trustees committee on Campus Planning, Buildings, and Grounds issued Tuesday. This action opens the way for the university to contract with the stadium architect to have working drawings prepared. . The University Is, at the same time, conducting a fund drive to raise $7.3 million for the construction of the football and soccer stadium. » The university "hopes to beable to use the new stadium facility by the tall of 1980. In addition, under some conditions non-local students .and alumni can receive personal advisement, referrals to employers, and access toon-campus interviews on a space available basis after all home campus students and alumni have bee'aac- Certain CSUC campuses, in cluding Nortbrldge and San Jose, have had reciprocal agreements in the past.
