Take PCAA lead Bulldogs surprise Spartans By Darrell Maskal Staff Reporter Don't look now folks, but the Battlln' Bulldogs are one game away from clinching at least a tie for their first Pacific Coast Athletic Association title in the Schools history. Thanks to a 45-24 pounding of San Jose State the Bulldogs need only a victory over Cal State'Fullerton (November 11 at Fullerton) to send tbe CSUF football program skyrocketing Into The skyrockets were readied Saturday night when a school- record 15,401 CSUF partisans overflowed Ratcllffe Stadium to witness one of the biggest victories in Bulldog history. The loss knocked the Spartans out of contention while Fresno Improved its league record to 2-0 and a 5-2 overall mark. But, a pleased Jim Sweeney feels every game is Important. Two of the other four leagues also saw its champions roll to unbeaten marks as the season grinds down to an end. WJJ.G. won Its showdown against W-3, 2nd to win the Dorms Monday League while Kappa Alpha Theta had a bye to finish at 4-0 in the Sorority Thursday The Jockettes finished league play with a 5-0 record after their victory. The Grave Snatch- ers, tied for fourth in the rankings, finished second with a 4-1 record after nipping EOP 14-13. EOP, which was also knotted for fourth in the ratings, was third with a 3-2 mark. W.D.r.. and W-3, 2nd were tied for the lead in the Independent Tuesday League. W.D.G. powered to a 6-0 victory to claim the title with a 4-0 record while W-3, 2nd dropped to 2-1 for second, "oth teams were tied for third in last week's rankings. Kappa Alpha Theta, rankedsec- ond, finished two games ahead of the pack in the Sorority Thursday League. Tied for second with 2-2 records were Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha XI Delta and Delta Gamma. Alpha XI Delta posted a 20-0 trouncing over Phi Mu while Delta Gamma crushed Kappa Kappa Gamma 50-3. On defense Fresno was almost as impressive; yielding 271 total yards, but only 48 on tbe ground.
