Letters to the Editor In response to Editor Diane Valeska s editorial supporting the controversial InstxuctlonaUy Related Activities contract, we are outraged at ber lack of sensitivity and serious evaluation of the ramifications of this contract. The fact is that this IRA scheme was approved by a ' 'Lame Duck" student government —-which included out-going Associated Student Body President David Nlkssarian and out-going Associated Student Senators at their very LAST meeting. It was done in a "Midnight- Hour" evening session whenstu- - aerlts were on vacation and had no voice on the matter. It is also appalling that no effort was made to have a full discussion on its merits and was hurriedly passed as a package line item. It was organized to be done this way; it was a conscious, deli- ln addition to being unethical, it was illegal! At the time the Senate passed the contract, it could not legally act on lt because there was no legal quorum. There is also a question as to whether a "Lame Dock" student government can give away its future powers and student powers to determine how student fee funds are to be distributed. What actually went down is that the Associated Student Fees Budget was determined for the next three years by a " Midnight- Hour' , "Lame Duck" student government, which guaranteed a few band-picked organizations a fixed sum of monies. It was done in a racist way, because aU minority organiza- . tlons are excluded from "favored" funding and are left to fight among themselves for the left-overs. We must also remind you that this agreement has conveniently locked tbe Associated Students Into a three-year contract with tbe NCAA, which Is by coincidence up for re-negotiation this year! May we remind everyone that President Norman Baxter is a fun party to this contract and did SIGN that contract It Is fcid that a man of his stature, is a This law suit will generate adverse publicity for our university. In light of student enrollment trends at CSUF — we hope that this situation can be avoided.
