To do that, he will need a lot of people walking precincts, going door to door, letting the voters know what he's all about. Kimber invited CSUF students to rxcome Involved in his campaign during an Informal talk last Wednesday in which he tried' to tell those present what he thinks he can do for Fresno County. He wants his campaigners "who are committed not to me as an individual, but to the ls- Klmber, who calls himself a "liberal," says he's Interested In "getting something done" and feels he can do this from a seat on tbe board. • Tbe supervisors are some of the most significant policy makers In the county, Kimber said, in terms of money, education, welfare 'and law enforcement. There are whites who are unemployed, and to get people to vote, whatever race, "you have to show tbem they can personally benefit. In presentations, I'm talking where I know they're at." In west Fresno, there are concerns of unemployment, he said. In Mendota, the results of recent flooding is a problem, he said. Kimber, who says be was a republican when he lived In North Carolina, explained that "If you know anything about soathern democrats," you know why he was a member of that party. Kimber claims Utat if be is elected, he will sit on the board for the four-year term, but that be will not seek reelection. He says he's not Interested In being a "career poUtidan." Four years is enough time to do wliat he plans. But what can one person do? Kimber contends that the right Individual can revolutionize things. Just his sitting on" the board wUl be Important, he said. ' The lack of economic development In West Fresno bothers him, and it disturbs him to see such growth toward the north.
