One student was injured in a collision near the student union. The following night, a spec¬ tator walking to the Fresno State-Honolulu game was hit by a car driven by a college stu- Last week, a woman student was 'injured when a car hit her in front of the library, and an auto collision occurred near the playhouse. A faculty member was hospitalized by an auto accident the week before. The entire blame for these accidents can be placed on neither the drivers or pedestrians. Both groups should co-operate in obeying traf¬ fic- laws if the conditions are to'improve. Driv¬ ers should obey the 25 miles an hour speed Increased enrolment, accompanied by a sim¬ ilar boost in the number of cars driven to school, makes the traffic problem twice as great as last semester. Alertness, patience, and tolerance will he necessary to meet the crisis. Remember: last year's vacant stretch in the street is now filled by a student's car; and two students arc in the pedestrian lanes for every one that was there last semester. Whether that added car or pedestrian is there tomorrow depends on safety practiced today.— Attention" Leaders You, too, can be a leader. Thwarted candidates for class offices and student committee posts can take cheer by the recent uncovering of two neglected clubs which were dormant during the war years. The organizations are the Solid Jive and the Hitch-hikers clubs. The Hitch-hikers of 1941 were outfitted in T-shirts with hitchhiker emblems in order to form a solid block to get rides. One member even succeeded in thumbing his way from Fres¬ no to Salt Lake Gty. Perhaps the biggest need the nil could fill would be to organize rides for phys¬ ical education students to the stadium The Solid Jive organization, which existed two semesters before it disbanded, worked ward furthering the understanding of modern American music. A project of a similar group could be the fostering of tolerance between classical and jazz devotees.—Minor. The Gauchos lost to the strong College of the Pacific last week by a 20 to 0 score, but always point for the Bulldog test and will probably prove a rugged foe. The Fresno State College Collegian Intramural Games Will Begin Today ■COU£GIAH SPORTS Bulldogs Beaten by Strong OCU Chiefs A tired, fighting, but outclassed Bulldog squad bowed to the powerful Oklahoma City University Chiefs 46-7 last Saturday night in Oklahoma's Taft Stadium before some 9,000 fans. Unleashing a terrific land and air offensive the heap big Chiefs overcame an early Bulldog lead to turn the game ' a night-mare of long passes and scoring sprints. SCORE EARLY in the doghouse.
