The Fresno State College Collegian - The c.mialim Is th. Fresno 2j College to Hold Press Concave Tomorrow Students from 26 San Joaquin Valley high schools and junior colleges entered in the annual newspaper rating con¬ test will register at 9:30 tomorrow morning for the Fresno State College Spring Press Conference. The conference is sponsored jointly by the San Joaquin Valley Scholastic Press Association and the Fresno State Col¬ lege Division of Journalism. Members of Alpha Phi Gamma, national honorary journal- :i fraternity .>n the college campus, will handle rcgistra- iii ami judging of field events in news nnel feature stories, lotography, nnil advertising layouts. .li-an Casey will head the judging of the- news event, with •tty K. i,l anil .1, an McCain assi- ling. T. Elton Foreman will __kc over tin- feature .-\.-i!t, with t!:-- lu-lp >.f .luanita Ill-own and Lee Soto. Benny Phillips is the Alpha Phi Gamma member heading the judging of advertising layouts. He will be assisted by - i. advertising manager of Hairy Coffees. Janet Adams and Bonnie Beeman, handling the photogra¬ phy event, will lw advised by Ed Schober, Fresno Bee pho¬ tographer and instructor of the news photography class on the United Press will speak at the luncheon meeting at 12:15 I'clock in the social hall of the student union. Newspapers entered in the rating contest will be divided nto junior college, high schools with enrollments over 1,000, ligh schools with enrollments from 600 to 1,000, high schools with enrollments under 500, mimeographed newspapers, and ' inior high school newspapers. The rating committee includes Miss Verna h. Hanson of ulare, chairman; Carroll Montague, Visalia; Paul A. Jorgen- •II, ISakcrsfield: Miss F.lva Johnson, llinuba; II. T. Richards, Fresno, and Ilernilon G. Ray, Corcoran, all members of the Awarding of new-paper ratings will be made at a general assembly at 10 o'clock by Chester Shuler of Delano, president ' the association. Field evcnLs awards will be presented by Shuler in a radio ■ogram at 2 p.m. at the KM.I studio. General section mectinfcs of advisers, newspaper staff members will lie held on tie campus from 10:30 to 12 o'clock.
