The- democratic nations are today fearful of
Russia's intentions, and this leaf is one of ig¬
norance. There is but one- way to eliminate this
fe-ar and that is to eliminate the ignorance,
which only Russia can do.
Russia today possesses .1 war machine which
makes her a great power, one- capable- of inter
fering in the affairs of other nations. The sin¬
gle factor providing us with a favorable bal¬
ance of power is the- atuinic bomb-
There are many who say that Russia means
no harm to the rest of the world, ihat she
fought a grc-ai svar in the- service of freedom
and humanity, and now all she wants to do is
to heal her wounds and stay at home. Freedom
is a meaningless word in Russia, and she
fought not for humanity but for the same rea¬
son wc did, self-preservation.
• It is logically held thai the only means ot
preventing war is for the several nations to
give up their external sovereignty to a world
sovereignty capable of rigidly enforcing its rule
upon the several nations.
If such a world government is to be parlia¬
mentary in character, representative in nature
and guaranteeing the- individual rights for
which this counrry has fought—and we can tol¬
erate no participation in any other—the super¬
states comprising this government must follow
the same pattern as the ■supreme government-.
On such an assumption, Russia has no place in
the family of nations.
Until such a government exists, we can on
o be only passively aware

Since- ihe student council met last week, the
co-ed lounge governing council has taken ac¬
tion against the card playing violation in the
