-The Fresno State College Collegian — Editorial: our only recourse What happens if thc students don't approve or like the choice of person for head football coach? The only possible answer, under thc circumstances, is that thc students arc going to have to grin and bear it. and do their utmost to see that the student association as a whole is behind the ath¬ letic department, thc coaching staff, and thc team. Naturally everyone will be pleased if the coach has a big name, doesn't want much moncv and can produce a victor¬ ious ball club. But . . . under thc present situation, thc coach obtained probably will not have a big name, he won't get any more money than his teaching position allows and he won't produce a victorious h.ill club in 1950. Some people argue that a big name coach is not necessary. Perhaps not, but it sure would help. Other students arc going around trying to find wvs to give the coach another title and thereby a little more cash under the tabic. (We feel that this will not and should not be done under any circumstance*. One of the reasons wc can expect a losing team is the inability and in.utivitv of the alumni and their officers. The alumni likes to take credit for ob¬ taining thc necessary top material to pro- ducc a winning team. What have they done? That's a good question.
