Band To Perform In Amphitheater Lieutenant Colonel William P. Santelmann began his studies with his father on the violin. Later he studied at the Washing-, ton College of Music and the Boston Conservatory of Music. He started his career with the Marine Band In 1923, which at that time was under the baton of San- telmann's father. Soon after entering the band, Santelmann began conducting small groups. In 1940 upon taking over as conductor of the band, he was commissioned as a captain and rose lo the highest rank ever Corps, Lieutenant Colonel. Friday's concert ls one of a series of five to be given during the Summer Session. The band concert scheduled for July 5 has been cancelled as there will be no school. Directing two of the upcoming concerts will be two visiting pro¬ fessors. Mr. W. Vincent Motz.of the Fresno City College, who Is also acting director of the Sum¬ mer Session concerts and Mr. Mark H. Hlndsley, Director of Bands at the University of Il¬ linois.
