LETTERS Friday. January 12, 1 2—THE DAILY COLLEGIAN EDITORIAL Facing Problems Significant problems have faced this campus during the past semester. We have braved the perils of theDowChemical recruiters, and the controversies over marijuana and student rights. But what leadership has our student govern¬ ment shown during this time? Student President Michael Case contends that there was really nothing to the Dow dem¬ onstration. They only became a "big thing" be¬ cause of the coverage -in the Daily Collegian. We suggest Mr. Case see what this nothing¬ ness turned into on other campuses. Has our student president revealed his feel¬ ings in the marijuana controversy? He did ac¬ cept the invitation to participate in the ill- fated pot parley, but he hurriedly made it known to those making arrangements that he knew little on the subject. We suggest Mr. Case learn something of one of the subjects most talked about by his constituents. Student rights are currently being discussed by two bodies on campus — the Student Senate and the Student Affairs Committee. The Student Senate has been extremely in¬ terested in Students' Rights. Most senators were so interested that they hadn't read their copies of the proposed draft by the time the discussions began. DS EUROPE and others desiring a mor mature-type tour.
