Student President Mike Case decided to allocate small portions of Uie $1,000 ln Uie line Item "Student Government Retreat/Workshop" to hold several small workshops rather than produce one large session as past-president Gary Yamamoto did. AU the Senators thought lt was a fine Idea. The first Senate Workshop was scheduled tor lastSunday. Twenty- five eager solons indicated they would participate and wished to be Included ln dinner arrangements. Five administrators were Invited to be guest speakers. (And at least they showed up.)Dr. W.Donald Albright spoke within 20 minutes of departure Ume for a flight he had to catch-a sacrifice of Ume given gladly. But is a small turnout a worthwhUe compensation for this Incon¬ venience? In Friday's editorial, G.L.D. spoke to the underdog Organ ln a pompous, patronizing tone which seemed to assume, surprisingly enough, that the Collegian Itself practised what G.L.D. called "re¬ sponsible Journalism." It doesn't. We all know that. I wonder how G.L.D. could have been so misled. Would lt? Well then, we have at least one example of the Collegian's ir¬ responsible Journallsm-an example which seems to me to "lean toward libel* (which Is what G.L.D. accused the Organ of doing). And what does G.L.D, find so "refreshing" ln the Organ's avoid¬ ance of "sexually offensive articles*? My God, the Collegian haT^ avoided being offensive since its (pardon the word) conception! Oh, one final question, G.L.D.: what In Uie world is "financial castraUon'? That, by the way, offended the Hell out of me. Well, I'm hoping that the Collegian will dlsconUnue, as G.L.D. said, "condemning the Organ before lt has Its day in court," and that, with the threat of another paper around, Uie CoUeglan will not only become more responsible ln Its reporting, but maybe, Just maybe, lt wUl become less of a bore as well.
