Tommy roH This brief message is directed at the fresh¬ men—those who were reminded at graduation exercises last June that .they were leaving their sheltered high school existence and en¬ tering the "cold, cruel world.* Their valedictory orator undoubtedly ex¬ pounded with great erudition why their gradu¬ ation was termed "commencement,*' i.e., the graduates were commencing, or beginning, a new life and manner of living. That is to say, no longer would they be pam¬ pered or spoon fed. They were now cast out into the sea of society, and would sink, swim or merely drift along. To the above, the knowledgeable Fresno State College senior would comment, "tommy- rot." Buy a schedule of courses (but only if you are familiar with military time) and a parking sticker; pay the college union fee; join a fra¬ ternity or sorority (whichever organization your gender directs.)
