According to the UK, Folk Dance Group Can't Find Sponsor, May Have To Move •WeTl go to Fresno City Col¬ lege U we dont get more co¬ operation here,* said BUI Rajskup, leader of a folk dance Interest group. Rajskup has been attempting to re-organtae a group begun last year by Annemarie Stetabtas. Miss Stetabtas left the Fresno State CoUege physical education faculty to return to Los Angeles and marry. The point of main concern, according to Rajskup, stems from the lack of a faculty sponsor tor the group. "We have to have one according to school policy. Right now we're organized as an 'activity' through the PJJ. department." The enthusiasts have been meeting Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. ta tte Women's Gym, In¬ struction ta provided tor new¬ comers who are encouraged by Rajskup to attend and dance or observe. The department offered to assign an Instructor to tte group but Rajskup rejected tte move with *U someone HAS to do U they aren't interested and we don't want that.- "We've been asked to move the group to City CoUege where a faculty member ta anxious to work with tte group.- said Rajsk¬ up, who feels an atmosphere of that sort would benefit tte group. •Folk dancing 1. an expression of tte people of other countries," "The idea ta to revlvoawanlng interest ta folk dancing, from Russian to Greek, Hungarian and Israeli, explained Rajskup, a He emphasized no i American folk dances are done by the group. ■Folk dancing ls an expression of tte people of otter countries," he continued. "They have a dif¬ ferent outlook and culture which ta shown ta their dances. You can learn much about the dif¬ ferent national groups this way." Rajskup feel, that folk dancing ta grossly mlssunderstood, par¬ ticularly from the masculine viewpoint. "Males dont under¬ stand what lt ta so they say they don't like It,- he maintains. "If they would watch or learn some of the dances they would find lt quite different from what the majority imagines. •Folk dancing ta very active and strenuous work and requires a lot of acrobatics, such as somersaults and flips done by the men. There ta nothing feminine about tte male role ta folk dancing.*

There ta nothing feminine about tte male role ta folk dancing.* |
